British rider set to make a return this weekend

After spending three weeks at home recuperating from his crash at MotorLand Aragon, Leon Camier (Red Bull Honda World Superbike Team) has been classed as fit to ride this weekend, as the MOTUL FIM Superbike World Championship heads to Imola.

At a notoriously technical circuit, the British rider is looking forward to making his return to the Honda CBR1000RR Fireblade SP2 this weekend after missing out at the MOTUL Dutch Round. Suffering a lung contusion and fracture of posterior ribs; 9, 10, and 11 on Saturday in Spain, Camier returned home and spent his time recovering to get back to full fitness.

Obtaining a top six result around Autodromo Internazionale Enzo d Dino Ferrari di Imola here last season and a podium in 2013, he has a strong history around the historic track. Keen to continue to develop his Honda after a stunning start to the season, he explains:

“It's been a long road but my recovery has gone really well and the medical staff have given me the all clear to ride the bike tomorrow in Free Practice 1. In some ways, the recovery has been more tiring than doing normal race weekends as I've tried every kind of treatment to give myself the best chance of being ready for this round and hopefully all the hard work has paid off. I'm still in a bit of pain and although I've been given the all clear to participate in FP1, the real test will be going out on the bike so we'll review my condition after the session to see if I can continue for the rest of the race weekend. I've had a good recovery to this point and made it to Imola, so I'll see how I get on tomorrow!”

Camier will be joined out on track with team-mate Jake Gagne (Red Bull Honda World Superbike Team), as he makes his return following a tough weekend at the MOTUL Dutch Round. Looking forward to tackling the tricky Imola circuit, the American is keen to get back on his Honda machine.
